Put together by concerned citizens to protect Miccosukee and Miccosukee Land Cooperative in 1979 both departments were built on heart with little to no funding. After merging in 1991, we are stronger than ever with 3 stations protecting 98 square miles in North East Leon County, Florida.
House fires spread rapidly—often giving you just minutes to escape safely once smoke is detected. Our local volunteers live nearby, enabling fast response times that can make all the difference.
Equipped with a 19' rescue boat and powerful swamp tail motor, we navigate shallow flood zones, remote ponds, and Lake Miccosukee with ease. We respond to boating accidents and rescues in tough, hard-to-reach waters.
Wildland fires are common here—from construction sparks to runaway burn piles. Our 3 trucks carry 7,250 gallons of water, plus a Gator ATV for fast access to remote, hard-to-reach areas.
Over 90% of our calls are medical—from falls to cardiac arrest. All members are BLS-trained to stabilize patients quickly on scene. We provide critical care until EMS arrives, giving you the best chance for a positive outcome.
Storms, overturned trailers, or accidents can quickly endanger large animals. Our team, backed by Leon County Sheriff's Office, specializes in safe, technical rescues to safely free and protect these animals in distress.
We bring fire safety education to birthday visits, fire truck demos, county meetings, and training sessions. Our focus is supporting families and neighbors. Together, we build stronger, safer communities.
